Central Missouri Volleyball Club

CMVBC 2010 WEEKLY RANKINGS UPDATE #4

March 4, 2010

The HOA Region covers the entire state of Kansas and the Western half of Missouri.

The GOLD Teams:  Still representing CMVBC very well by their play within the Region at the Gold Level.

The 16-1 Infinity hangs on to the #9 spot in the rankings remaining Top 10 within the Region after playing up in the 17U division in the Capital City Clash tournament.  Infinity placed 2nd in the Championship match, losing to the Invasion VBC 17-1 team in three games.   Invasion is one of the premiere Clubs in HOA and have sent teams to the National tournament that faired very well.  Just last year, Invasion had one of their 14U team’s finish 2nd in the nation in the Open division.  Fantastic job, playing up, playing a strong opponent and taking 2nd in the tournament.  Nice work Infinity!

The 17-1 Synergy moves up two spots to #27 even though the tournament they played in this past weekend is still to be updated on HOA.  Synergy placed 2nd overall falling to Team Momentum in the Championship.  The 2nd place finish is their top finish so far this season and the team looks to take the next step and grab top honors at their next tournament.  Strong work and effort by Synergy!

The 18-1 Attagirls hold on to #11 spot and did not play this past weekend. They return to action this coming Saturday
and look to make some noise by moving up in the rankings and placing well in the tournament.  Take it to them, Attagirls!

Gold Team Rankings
Movement in Rankings          # of Top 3 Placements
16-1 INFINITY        #9   out of 52 Teams       (0)               1st, 2nd

18-1 ATTAGIRLS   #11  out of 35 Teams      (0)               1st, 1st, 3rd

CMVBC remains stable in the top teams of Silver:
CMVBC still has six Top 10 teams and five Top 3 teams in the Region!  Just amazing production from these players.

The 11-1 Xplosion stays at #3  in the Region.  Xplosion took 1st place in the local Capital City Clash tournament beating the Springfield Jrs 11-1 team.   Xplosion is 2 for 2 with placing 1st in their first two tournaments of the season.  What a great introduction to Club volleyball with the team’s two 1st place finishes.  I don’t think they know that you can finish anywhere else.  Shhhh!  Don’t anyone tell them.  Keep it going Xplosion, that’s a streak every Volleyball player would love to start their career with.

The 11-2 Dynamite!  Comes in at #21 this week.  Dynamite finished tied for 5th at the Capital City Clash tournament falling to the OCVBC 11-1 team in the playoffs.  Dynamite will work and build to make a Bang and move up the rankings at the CMVBC Classic tournament at the end of the month.

Go Dynamite!

The 12-1 Dominators still hold onto the #2 ranking in the region like a vice grip.  They swing back into action this weekend (playing up in the 13’s division) and will seek to take over the #1 spot in the Region.  With hard, smart and fast play they hope to make that one last step.  Hopefully they will Dominate whoever they play in the process.  Special Kudos to the 12-1 players who came out to support the 12-2 team & 12-3 teams in the tournament.  Very classy and very special when the players support other CMVBC teams.  Parents be proud.

The 12-2 Elite team moves up one spot to #3 and places 1st in the Capital City Clash tournament over the Mid-Mo 12-1 team.   Elite takes its second 1st place title on the year.  Elite is coming on strong and making a run at the #1 spot in the Region as well.  What a deep & strong age group in the 12’s this season.   Awesome play and effort!

The 12-3 Sizzle is at the #19 spot this week.  The team tied for 3rd in the Capital City Classic, making their third Top 3 finish on the season.  Nice work on making Top 3 again!  A  Special Kudos to the Sizzle team for staying and supporting the 12-2 team in the Championship match.   Again, very classy and very special for these players to stay and support another CMVBC team.  Parents, be very proud of the players not just on the court, but what they do off the court as well.

The 13-1 Terminators move up one spot to #7 without the benefit of playing in a tournament. They return to action this weekend in the Capital City Clash.  They look to move back up in the rankings with a solid effort and smart play in their matches at the tournament.  Go Terminators!

The 13-2 Fusion holds onto the #3 spot in the region, also without playing in a tournament.

Taking their momentum from the Silver Heart Tournament, they hope to challenge for the top spot again this weekend.  Fusion will meet a different challenge this weekend as well at the Capital Clash tournament, as they will meet up with a Mavs 12-1 Boys team.  Those boys better watch out, as Fusion is not something you aggravate. Take it to them, ladies!

The 14-1 Crush team moves up one to #27 in the rankings and heads to Linn this weekend to battle in the Capital City Clash tournament.  The team looks to Crush some opponents at the tournament to move on up in the rankings.  The players are looking forward to the action and getting to play some more volleyball.  Go Crushers!

The 14-2 Impulse takes a big jump and moves on up to #28 keeping their CMVBC sister team company in the standings.  Impulse also joins them in Linn at the Capital City Clash tourney. The players are itching to go and ready for action in their quest to move on up in the rankings.

The 15-1 Impact moves up one spot to #2 in the region.  They look forward to this weekend’s action and the chance to take that #1 spot.  It will take a consistent effort and smart play and a little luck with this ranking system, but I think they are up to the challenge.  Good luck, Impact!

The 15-2 Boomba! comes in at #40 this week.  The team placed 7th in the Capital City Clash this past weekend.  They will return to action on the 13th and look to make up some ground and put the Boomba! on some teams in the process in that tournament.  Go get em, Boomba!

CMVBC 2010 WEEKLY RANKINGS UPDATE #3

February 24, 2010

The HOA Region covers the entire state of Kansas and the Western half of Missouri.  Wednesdays will normally be the day the weekly rankings will come out per information provided on our CMVBC teams and the past weekend’s tournaments.

This week’s ranking sees a small increase in the number of total Silver teams in the 11U, 12U, & 13U age groups.  All other age groups basically stayed the same number, with a slight decrease in the 17U Gold teams.  This week’s rankings will be a little shorter than normal.  It will also increase in weeks when more teams play on the same weekend.

The GOLD Teams:  All 3 teams are making a strong effort with play and representing CMVBC very well within the Gold Rankings.

The 16-1 Infinity team moves up two spots to #9 without playing a tournament last weekend.  They look for movement once they play again this weekend in the Capital City Clash in Linn.

The 17-1 Synergy moves down to #29 without playing last weekend.  They look to make the swing back up playing this weekend in Springfield.

The 18-1 Attagirls slip to #11, also not having played.  The team will have to wait a little longer as they will not return to action until next month.

Gold Team Rankings
Movement in Rankings          # of Top 3 Placements
16-1 INFINITY        #9     out of 51 Teams     (+2)            1st
17-1 SYNERGY      #29    out of 43 Teams     (-8)             3rd
18-1 ATTAGIRLS   #11    out of 35 Teams    (-5)             1st, 1st, 3rd

CMVBC still has teams near the top in almost every age group in Silver.
CMVBC has 6 Top 10 teams, 5 Top 5, and 4 Top 3 in the Region.   Fantastic showing by the teams.

The 11-1 Xplosion  goes to #3, but did not play and will try to get back to the top spot this weekend.

The 11-2 Dynamite also did  not play and slipped to #12, but will get the chance to adjust that by playing this weekend.

The 12-1 Dominators still hold onto the #2 ranking in the region.  Will they go up, down or hold steady until they play next month?

The 12-2 Elite moves up one spot to #4 and looks to maintain or move up after playing this weekend.

The 12-3 Sizzle holds onto the #19 spot while preparing for this weekend, where they hope to move back up the rankings and get rewarded for their efforts.

The 13-1 Terminators fall out of the top spot to #8 in the region, after placing 6th in the 16 team Silver Heart Tournament. The Terminators learned a valuable lesson on what one game can do to affect you in a tournament.  Splitting the last match and losing the 2nd game of the pool with KS VBC 13-1, cost them the last of 4 slots for the Gold Division bracket. Terminators tied both teams that played in the Championship match of Gold Division.  The Terminators fell in the Silver Division Championship in 3 games, 25-14, 24-26, 13-15 to a scrappy and determined Ligers 13-2 team, to place 2nd in the Silver Division. The Team saw a lot of great play all weekend, with outstanding effort by the players.

The 13-2 Fusion team moves up one spot to #3 in the region -- which seems a little unfair to only move up one spot after going 7- 0- 4 in matches & 18 - 5 in games to win the Gold Division Championship of the Silver Heart tournament over KS VBC 13-1 in a 3 game match, 25-14, 19-25, 15-13.   No easy feat by any means.  Fusion showed they could hold their own with any team they played and did not lose a match in the tournament. They split with 4 teams, but won the matches when they needed to make the top bracket.  Tremendous effort and play by the Fusion players sees the team take the title at the Silver Heart Tourney.  A Super accomplishment by these young ladies and the only CMVBC team to win 1st in Silver Heart this season.

The 14-1 Crush team moves up to #28 in the rankings taking the biggest jump in any age group after placing 7th at the Silver Heart 20-team tournament.   Crush went 5 -3- 2 in matches and 11 – 8 in games.  Crush went undefeated in their first pool of the tournament to get things started in a great way. Having a win, a loss and a tie in their next 2 pools brought them to the Silver bracket of the tournament.  Crush fell to the KS VBC 14-2 team in the Silver semi-final.  KS VBC 14-2 would go on to win the Silver Division Championship. Great movement in the rankings and nice work by the players.

The 14-2 Impulse finds themselves at #38 after moving up and down the rankings like a yo-yo, while not having played in any tournaments this past weekend. I’m not quite sure why they moved from 6th to #38 while not having played.  Several teams must have played in the same time frame and played a lot of matches.  Next month they will play their next tournament and seek to move up the rankings by their play and efforts.

The 15-1 Impact holds onto the #3 ranking while placing 2nd at the Silver Heart Challenge.  Impact had a stellar tourney going 9-1-1 in matches and 20 – 3 in games.  Impact fell in the Championship to a team from Oklahoma.  OK Charge 15-1 won in an exciting 3 game match, 25-14, 20-25, 13-15 over Impact.  Co-Coach Reynolds had this to say about the Impact team: “The girls are playing very strong in each tournament, not only by their attacking, but by playing smart. They go beyond the basics with their play and follow the strategy we set forth for them. As for this past weekend at Silver Heart, the team really worked well together every rally. The defense really came through to push our offense, to help the team succeed -- especially at the Libero position by the play of Haley Bax.  Haley did not let much get by her. Her passing was remarkable, letting our setter be super efficient and giving our attackers opportunity to be more aggressive in their swings”.  Awesome play by players, way to go Impact!

The 15-2 Boomba!  slips to #38 in the region, while yet being another team that did not play this weekend.   Boomba! looks to move back up the ladder while playing this weekend and taking control in their movement in the rankings.

CMVBC 2010 WEEKLY RANKINGS UPDATE #2

February 18, 2010

The HOA Region covers the entire state of Kansas and the Western half of Missouri. Wednesdays will normally be the day the weekly rankings will come out reflecting the past weekend’s tournament results.

First off, let me say it is very early in the rankings and teams will move up and down in the ranks even when they did not play, per other teams playing and their results effecting the entire overall rankings.  Sometimes teams will win a tournament and still fall in the rankings.  I don’t always understand it or can even explain it, but it happens.  Also, if a tournament director is not timely in submitting the weekend’s results to HOA, no credit is given and results are not reflected that week in the rankings.

The GOLD Teams:

The 16-1 Infinity team moves up 8 spots to #11 without playing a tournament. That’s what I call living right and having some higher ranked teams bang up on each other. Just outside the Top 10 in Gold.  A nice spot to make a move into the Top 10 from, which Infinity hopes they can do at the end of this month in their next tournament.

The 17-1 Synergy moves up 2 spots to #21.  Synergy tied for 9th in the 18 team (18’s/17’s mixed Lori Endicott Holiday Volley Tournament).  The team’s effort saw them have a great Saturday, but could not hold the momentum through Sunday.  Playing in a large size tournament and against some competitive teams helps build on the team’s season. They will be ready to hit the court when they play next on Feb. 27th.  Go Synergy!  (Their weekend results are not yet complete on HOA, so we will have to wait to see how this will affect them in the rankings.)

The 18-1 Attagirls hold steady at 6th in the rankings.  A tough feat on its own to do in the oldest age Gold division.  Attagirls also played in the Lori Endicott Holiday Volley  Tournament and tied for 3rd  out of 18 teams. Nice work by the team to place in the top 3 of an 18 team tournament.  Attagirls fell to Springfield Jrs 15-1 Blue in 3 games in the semi-final.  This was one of Springfield Jrs. National teams that is comprised of some pretty good players and talent.  Attagirls still maintains their streak of finishing at least top 3 in every tournament so far this season.   (Again, their weekend results are not yet complete on HOA, so we will have to wait to see how this will affect them in the rankings.)

Gold Team Rankings         Movement in Rankings          # of Top 3 Placements
16-1 INFINITY     #11   out of 51 Teams     (+8)           1st
17-1 SYNERGY    #21   out of 43 Teams     (0)            3rd
18-1 ATTAGIRLS   #6     out of 35 Teams    (0)            1st , 1st , 3rd

CMVBC still has an amazing amount of teams ranked very, very high in the Silver Division.
CMVBC has 8 out of the 11 teams ranked in the Top 10 in the region and 7 of those 8 ranked in the Top 5 in the Region.  Two teams remain ranked #1 in the region as well. Great effort and work by these teams.

The 11-1 Xplosion holds onto the #1 spot in the 11U division.  They await their next tournament at the end of the month to strut their VB talent vs. any team that wants to try and take that spot from them.

The 11-2 Dynamite!  Also maintain their #3 ranking and look to close the gap between the 2 teams.  Dynamite also plays next at the end of the month and are ready to go.

The 12-1 Dominators hold onto the #2 ranking in the region. The team has already played 3 tournaments so far this season and won’t see action till next month.  The team will work hard until then and hope that the rankings will be kind to them in the process until they hit the court again.

The 12-2 Elite drops 1 spot to 5th in the region and will look to get that back and more, when they play again on Feb 27th in the Capital City Clash.

The 12-3 Sizzle get the rankings raw deal of the week.  They knock off the CAVBC 12-1 team in the Championship of the Sedalia Stimulus II Tourney in a 3 game match 26-24, 24-26, 15-3.  They win the 5 team tournament and somehow fall from 11th to 19th in the rankings. Since it’s early in the season, I have to believe Karma will work this wrong out.  A special kudos goes out to Alaina Valdes, as she was the first server for her Sizzle team and served a game out to victory -- Skunking their opponent who never scored a point and the team never rotating.  Simply amazing.  Great Serving Alaina!  And way to go Sizzle on winning your tournament!

The 13-1 Terminators still rank #1 in the region and will take that ranking into the Silver Heart Challenge this weekend. The two-day, 16 team tournament will test the Terminators and see if they can maintain the title of #1.   Go Terminators!

The 13-2 Fusion moves up one spot to #4 in the region, as they also prepare to battle in the Silver Heart Challenge.   It will be a good test for them as well and they will see where they come out in the end.  Go Fusion!

The 14-1 Crush also journeys to the Silver Heart Challenge. They will look to make up the 3 spots they  fall, putting them at #54 in the rankings. The tournament will be a great opportunity to enhance their rankings and get plenty of play for the team.  The players are looking forward to some great play and a big weekend. Go Crush!

The 14-2 Impulse team climbs two spots to #6 in the region. They also played in the Haitian Relief Charity Tournament and tied for 3rd in the 9 team tournament.  They lost a heartbreaker in the semi-final to Club Gemini 22-25 & 24-26.  A wonderful day of volleyball while helping out with a charity.  Nice job Impulse, finishing top 3 and doing something for others in need!

The 15-1 Impact holds onto the #3 ranking and will be the 4th team to head to the Silver Heart Challenge from CMVBC.  Impact looks to make some noise at the tourney and carry the momentum from their last tournament into this one.  They hope to make the push to the top after this weekend.

The 15-2 Boomba! team moves up 7 spots to #30 in the region for the 15U age group.  The Boomba! team won the Silver division of the 16U Lori Endicott Holiday Volley Tournament.  Nice work by the team to play up with a mix of 16U & 15U teams!  Strong effort in a two-day tournament gets the team to the title match of the Silver division, and a lot of heart sees the team take the victory.  Fantastic!  Way to go Boomba!

CMVBC 2010 WEEKLY RANKINGS UPDATE #1

The HOA Region covers the entire state of Kansas and the Western half of Missouri.  For the new members to CMVBC and previous members who may have forgotten, here are few items regarding the rankings.  As long as the Club who sponsors a tournament in HOA gets the info entered online regarding how the teams finished and placed, it will adjust the ranking once completed.  If not your team will not get credit until it is entered. Depending on when it is entered the rankings can change from one day to the next. So what I have here could change tomorrow. If you ever need the most up to date info, go to the HOA website and go to Junior’s and click on rankings and choose the age groups and division you want to get the information.  Also if you play a team from outside the HOA Region it will not affect your rankings whether you win or lose. HOA will not count it. Playing in Gold or Open tournaments will count more for your team than playing in a designated Silver only tournament if you are successful.  The higher you finish the more it affects your ranking to place higher, the worse you finish it will affect you moving down in the rankings. Playing in larger tournaments and finishing well, will also give teams more power to move up.  Playing up can also increase points towards what credit you will receive to move up in the rankings or it will have a more adverse affect if you place lower in the tournament per your team rankings.  Wednesdays will be the day the weekly rankings will come out.

CMVBC starts the season with all 3 Gold teams ranking in the Top 25 in their age groups. No easy task as they all look to make their mark and move up in the rankings in a very competitive division of Gold teams HOA has to offer.  Great playing by all 3 teams to merit their rankings.  Nice work, Ladies!

The 16-1 Infinity team comes in at #19 after taking 1st place in the Capital Blast tournament over a 16U Rockwood Team.  Rockwood out of the Gateway Region is a premiere Club in their Region and have a strong Jrs program going.  A great victory over a high quality opponent for the Infinity team.  Way to represent!

The 17-1 Synergy is at #23 in the rankings.  Placing 3rd in the Capital Blast tournament, falling in the semi-final to another strong Gateway team: QVC 17-1 who would go on to win the tournament.  Synergy took care of business in their pool by coming out the 1st seed, before heading into tournament play. Nice job by Synergy in their first tournament on the season.

The 18-1 Attagirls make the top 10 by ranking 6th in the region. Wow! Nice going. The Attagirls took 1st over Kansas VBC 18-2 team in the Capital Blast Tournament.  Making them 2 for 2 on the season, with two 1st place finishes in their first two tournaments.   Consistent play and effort rewards the Attagirls.

Gold Team Rankings   Movement in Rankings       # of Top 3 Placements

16-1 INFINITY       #19   out of 52 Teams     ( - )           1st

17-1 SYNERGY     #21   out of 43 Teams     ( - )           3rd

18-1 ATTAGIRLS   #6     out of 36 Teams    ( - )            1st , 1st

CMVBC comes out of the gate in the Silver Division with a BANG!

CMVBC has two teams ranked #1 in the Silver  region, plus a #2, #3, #4 & #5 in the Region. The young teams are hungry and looking to feast on the competition that HOA has to offer. The CMVBC Silver teams are placing strong in the age groups by all the teams.

The 11-1 Xplosion take 1st in the home tournament over CAVBC 11-1 and find themselves on top in the 11U division for the whole region.  Hanging onto that #1 spot will be tough, but I’m sure the team will love the challenge.  If there is an Xplosion  .  .  .

There Could be some Dynamite!  The 11-2 Dynamite are not far behind by taking 3rd in the Home tournament and keeping that #3 spot in the region as well.  A very strong showing by the youngest age group in the Club, indeed!

The 12-1 Dominators are the most veteran team this season, by playing in 3 tournaments so far.  Taking 1st place in the 12-U division and 3rd in 13-U division this past weekend in the home tournament.  They are rewarded for their efforts with the #2 ranking in the region.  Fantastic play by the Dominators.

Speaking of fantastic, the 12-2 Elite team takes 2nd in the Capital Blast tournament and finished 1st in their 1st tournament of the season.  With placing in the championship of both tourneys the teams holds the #4 spot in the Region. These 12’s are very determined and won’t go away without a fight.

Speaking of fight, the 12-3 Sizzle team took the 12-2 to 3 games in one semi-final of the Home tournament before going down.  That placed them 3rd  for the tournament, which was their first tournament of the season.  That places them #11 in the region.   These 12’s mean business.  I expect it will be extremely hard to find a another Club that  can place 3 teams in one age group in the top 11 of the region, not only in HOA, but in any region  in the country. There might be others, but I bet not many.  Way to go 12’s.  Incredible.

The 13-1 Terminators take 1st in the Capital Blast tournament.  Having to beat the CMVBC 12-1 team in the Semi-finals and then beat the #1 Gold ranked team in the region 12-U Springfield Jrs. Team to take the title ( What is up with the 12’s age group?).   The victory paid off as the Terminators are the #1 ranked team in the Silver Region for 13-U.  Awesome! Baby!

The 13-2 Fusion made it to the Silver Championship of the Home tournament, but fell to the CAVBC 13-1 team in 3 games.  Fusion played up in a 14 age division for their first tournament of the season and placed 2nd.   Strong work right out of the box. That combination finds them at #5 in the region. Fantastic!  The 13’s are making a statement with both teams ranking top 5.

The 14-1 Crush team made it to the Silver Championship, but fell to St. Charles Stars out of the Gateway region.  Crush ranks #51 in the region.  The 14’s Silver division is the largest age group by far per currently having 124 teams.  With that many teams, movement in the rankings can take large swings up or down.  Crush is looking forward to making a big jump upward per their next tournament.

The 14-2 Impulse team makes it to the Capital Blast final, but fell to the CAVBC 14-1 team to take 2nd place in their first tourney of the year.  Making it to the title match brings a strong reward as Impulse ranks top 10 with a #8 ranking in the region.  Great work and effort to the start the season for these players.

The 15-1 Impact takes out the CAVBC 15-1 team in an exciting 3 game semi-final. Then continues their strong play to defeat the CAVBC 15-2 team in the Championship.   Winning the home tournament and placing 2nd in their first tournament of the season sees the Impact team rank 2nd in the entire region in the 15’s age group.  Way to make an Impact in the region.

The 15-2 Boomba!  Team takes 2nd in the Silver division in the Capital Blast tournament,  falling to the 15-1 Southern Elite team.  Boombas! play in a close pool saw them battle some teams with strong play as they split with the CAVBC 15-1 team.  After their first tournament on the season they come into the rankings at #37.  These lady’s will be looking to put the Boomba!  into their future opponents.  Great effort at the tournament!
