Kelsey Toebben listed among Top 2010 recruits for St. Louis University

Kelsey Toebben (CMVBC 18-1) is noted in the recruiting profile below with St. Louis University where she will be attending college and playing this Fall.  Congratulations, Kelsey!

SAINT LOUIS UNIVERSITY: Lauren Baumet, 6-2 MB, Brownsburg (IN); Andrea Beaty, 6-0 OH, Washington (MO); Grace Bonoma, 5-7 Libero, St. Ignatius HS (Chicago IL); Emma Goldschmidt, 5-11 RS, O’Fallon (MO); Sarah Knouse, 5-7 S/DS, Providence Catholic (New Lenox IL); Hannah Kvitle, 5-11 S, Quincy (IL); Kelsey Toebben, 6-3 MB, Helias (Jefferson City MO)

Comment: The loss of five starters to graduation, three of whom were AVCA All-Americans, means that St. Louis will rely on this freshman class to come in and make an immediate impact for a program that is becoming a fixture in the national top 25 program. Kvitle, one of the best setters in the class and No. 9 all time on the Illinois assists list, headlines the seven newcomers. She joined the Billikens for the spring semester. The experience of training, working out, and playing at a high level should give her an added advantage over other programs boasting a first-year starting setter. Baumet is one of the most exciting athletes in this class. A top 100 Senior Ace, she trained as a middle and then moved to outside and can play both positions at a high level. She also possesses a blistering jump serve, perhaps the hardest of anyone in this class, so look for her to score as well from the service line. Beaty was a top recruit out of Missouri. An energetic personality, Beaty is an explosive athlete with the ball control to play all six rotations. She is a natural blocker, which will allow for her to contribute in the middle as well as on the outside. Goldschmidt, is a strong, left-handed bomber who can also hammer out of the back row. She is a good blocker with a strong competitive demeanor. A knee injury suffered during the club season may limit her contributions in 2010. Toebben is as athletic and fast as any middle recruited to St. Louis. She is a diamond in the rough with a huge block and emerging offensive game. Bonoma is a gutsy defender who was named the 2009 GCAC Player of the Year after amassing 525 digs. Knouse is a strong leader and will add depth in multiple positions.
